Rising Stars Group

To help support our School Leavers we have been running Rising Star sessions. Jemima (our school teddy) has helped us to understand the Golden Rules and stayed with us during these sessions. We have talked about going to school and get ready for school, we have read stories together such as ‘Topsy and Tim start school’ ‘Harry & Dinosaurs go to school’ ‘In the Playground’ and ‘Rainbow fish’. These sessions focus on name recognition, development of fine motor skills and hand to eye coordination, co-operation games and conversations about feelings and emotions. We also looked at numerals and amounts, and numbers rhymes. During the first few weeks of June we have talked about friendships; what is being a friend, who are your best friends and why do you like to play with them. We have been encouraging the children to play with someone different every day, and doing more cooperation and team work activities such as; Tracing friends in pairs, The Lone Star (that we called The Children Star) making a group star, discussing and solving problems together and making sure that everyone in the group is allowed to participate.
