Meet the Team
Jay Sparkle, Lead Manager
My name is Jay, My journey started at The Honeytree in January 2013.
I started as the Preschool Room Manager at our Weston site. I previously worked in nurseries in Wales. In January 2014 I was promoted to Deputy Manager and in October 2015, I took over as Manager at our Weston nursery.
In 2017 my Managing Director, Mr Weston, promoted me to Lead Manager. My role is to visit each of the settings and support the teams in enhancing their practice. I work closely with the managers and also our Head Office to ensure the smooth running of our settings.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Years Education and have also completed my Foundation Degree in Early Years. I hold a basic food hygiene certificate and a paediatric 1st aid certificate. In addition to these I hold an Advanced Safeguarding Certificate. My experiences within settings include behaviour management and also Inclusion and SEND coordinator.
Natalie Jones, Nursery Manager
My name is Natalie and my journey started with The Honeytree in May 2017.
I have recently relocated from London and have been working in the Early Years sector since 2009. I joined The Honeytree team as a Graduate Leader in our Bristol Nursery and soon after, a position for a Deputy Manager became available at the Portishead Nursery where I was successful in my application. I was at Portishead for 3 months and then in October 2017, I took over as Manager in our Weston Nursery.
I hold a BA Hons in Early Years and Professional Practice as well as a Foundation Degree in Early Years Practice. I also hold Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates and an Advanced Safeguarding certificate.
Bobby Baldwin, Deputy Manager
Hi my name is Bobby. I first came to The Honeytree to complete my work experience whilst at school in 2009.
I then came back to The Honeytree in 2011 to start my apprenticeship, which I went on to complete in 2013. I have worked in all three rooms in the nursery.
In January 2014 I was moved to the Preschool room to gain experience with 3-5s. In September 2014 I was promoted to Room Manager in Preschool. I then moved to the Baby Room as Room Manager. I enjoy working with the children, watching them learn and grow into their own individual person.
I hold a NVQ 2 in Team Leading and Management. I have recently finished studying for my Foundation Degree in Early Years.
Susan Coles, Graduate Leader
Hi, I'm Susan. My time at The Honeytree began in December 2016.
I graduated from Bath Spa University in 2015 with a Primary PGCE and I also hold a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre and Performance from Plymouth University.
My background is in Primary teaching, teaching theatre and singing and caring for children with disabilities.
I started at Honeytree as a practitioner in Preschool and became Graduate Leader for Preschool in February 2017.
I hold an all ages and pediatric certificate in first aid, basic food hygiene and a basic safeguarding certificate.
Abi Sweatman, Graduate Leader
My name is Abi and my journey started at The Honeytree in January 2016. I was originally working in the Baby Room but moved to 2-3’s in September 2016.
I studied at Exeter University and gained a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood and Youth Studies, I also hold a level 3 diploma in Home-based Childcare.
Before starting at The Honeytree I worked as a childminder and a nanny. During the Summer Holidays I was working as a play worker also.
I hold Paediatric First aid and food hygiene certificates.I have recently been promoted to Graduate Leader and I am excited to begin my journey in this role.
Erin Robinson, Graduate Leader (Maternity Leave)
After finishing my A levels, I started a foundation with Plymouth University and in 2014 I achieved my FDA in Early Childhood Education Studies.
I took 18 months out to have my daughter India then in April 2015 I started as a nursery practitioner with the Honeytree in the Busy Bees room.
In September 2015, India joined the Honeytree whilst I was working towards my BA (Hons) Degree in Early Years alongside my role as Graduate Leader. I have now graduated with my BA (Hons).
Kelsey Whitchurch, Room Manager
Hi I’m Kelsey. I joined the team at The Honeytree in August 2016.
I previously worked at another nursery in Weston-Super-Mare from 2013-2016 where I was an early years practitioner in a baby room. Since starting at Honeytree I have worked in the Busy Bees room and in January 2017 became room manager of Preschool.
I hold a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Early Years which was obtained through Weston College. I also hold a Pediatric first aid certificate, basic safeguarding certificate and a basic food hygiene certificate.
In September 2017 I started my foundation degree in Early Years at Weston College.
Rachel Lever, Room Manager
I am Rachel and my journey started at The Honeytree in October 2017.
I previously worked as a family support worker, and have also worked in several other early years settings. I currently hold a level 3 and will be going on to do a degree in the future.
I have 3 children, 3 step children and lots of pets. I enjoy making pebble art, walking and riding my bike.
Andrea Small, Room Manager
I am Andrea and my journey started at The Honeytree in July 2014.
I started in the Preschool Room as an Early Years Practitioner and I was promoted to Room Manager of 2-3’s in June 2016.
I am currently working towards my Foundation Degree in Early Years. I also hold Paediatric first aid, basic safeguarding and food hygiene certificates.
Emily Athay, Room Manager
My name is Emily and I started working at The Honeytree in October 2014.
I was initially employed as an Apprentice to study level 3 childcare. I started in the Baby Room and in November 2015 I completed my level 3 and became a qualified Early Years Practitioner. I am still in the baby room but have a knowledge of children of all ages within the nursery. In June 2017, I became baby room manager and will shortly be starting a degree in Early Years.
I was nominated for Childcare Apprentice of the year and in June 2016 I went to the awards ceremony and collected my award for winning!
I hold a Paediatric first aid certificate and food hygiene certificates.
Jamie Lenehan, Early Years Practitioner
I’m Jamie; I started with The Honeytree in August 2016.
I have worked with children and adults with disabilities and my son, who is 12, has behaviour problems. I have an NVQ 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development and also hold an NVQ 3 in Health and Social care. I hold a Paediatric first aid certificate too
I am a colourful character and encourage the children to explore their individuality. I believe in magic and never growing old.
Emily Elswood, Early Years Practitioner
I’m Emily. My Journey started at The Honeytree in October 2017.
I recently finished my level 3, and have been working at another nursery in their baby room.
Zoe Thompson, Early Years Practitioner
I’m Zoe. My Journey started at The Honeytree in June 2015.
I started in the Preschool Room as a Level 3 apprentice. I moved to the 2-3’s room in August 2016. Where I completed my apprenticeship through Weston College.
I also hold a basic food hygiene certificate and a Paediatric First aid certificate.
Rubi Reynolds, Apprentice
I am Rubi and I started at The Honeytree in March 2015 as a Level 2 apprentice.
I completed my apprenticeship in March 2016 and I am now working towards my level 3.
I started in the 2-3’s room and was in there until July 2016. I am now based in the Baby Room to gain knowledge of younger children to support me in my apprenticeship.
I hold Paediatric First Aid and also Basic food hygiene certificates.
Katie Lambe, Apprentice
My name is Katie. I started to work at The Honeytree in August 2016.
I have previous experience in nurseries, preschools and also childminding settings.
I completed my level two last year which included a range of work experience placements and I am now completing my level three.
Mia Jack, Apprentice
Hi my name is Mia. I started at The Honeytree in September 2017.
I am currently doing my Level 3 at Weston college and recently completed my level 2 BTEC course. I live at home with my Mum and sister.
I am working in the 2-3 Busy Bee room. I am very happy to have joined a lovely team.
Tina Masters, House Keeper
My name is Tina, and I started at The Honeytree in October 2017.
I previously worked in a care home looking after residents, making food and cleaning. I am very happy to be working with some lively little people.
I have two dogs, called Sandy and Alfie who I enjoy taking on long walks.
